What
are the benefits of CHEC membership?
Peace of Mind. CHEC members are the cream of the crop. All members agree to adhere to a strict code of conduct designed to protect you, your home and your vacation experience.
Be assured your swapper lives where they claim to live. CHEC members' personal information is verified by a third-party company.
CHECtravel will help you with all your home exchange needs so you never have to worry.
Why
should I join CHEC?
CHEC members are offered a blanket of increased service and protection including access to unique and exclusive Travel Guard home exchange insurance, local expert service (coming soon), as well as a means of resolving any disputes arising from

Using CHEC
Should I insist that my exchange partners become CHEC members?
We think so! CHEC is a growing community of like-minded exchangers who take their home exchange commitments seriously. And if your swap partner joins and mentions your name and email address, your $5 per referral discount can earn you an additional year of free CHEC membership if you qualify
I understand that an independent company is doing a background
check on me. Will that information be shared with CHECtravel?
Will anyone know the results?
CHEC will have basic information to verify only those details that directly relate to your CHEC membership. CHEC will never share your background check results with anyone.
What
happens if my exchange partner does not follow the CHEC code
of conduct?
All CHEC members are encouraged to provide feedback on their home exchange experience. If issues arise with your exchange, there are several avenues that CHEC may take. If the exchange partner commits an unresolved offense that breaks the code of conduct (i.e. does not clean up the exchange partner’s home), that offense can be reported to CHEC and it will be duly noted. Resolution of the infraction may consist of such procedures as the offender admitting to the action(s) that led to the complaint; apologies and/or compensation (if appropriate).
Complaints will not be public information, however if another CHEC member wants
to find out if a possible exchange partner has an unresolved
offense, s/he can contact us and we will inform him/her of the
nature of the complaint. The first grievance will result in
a warning. After the third complaint, membership may be revoked.
To maintain neutrality, issues that cannot be resolved on a
peer-to-peer basis using CHEC's complaint resolution process will
be referred to our consulting mediator.
How
do exchange clubs become CHEC clubs?
All of our Certified Home Exchange Clubs are nominated
and approved by our Club Council. The Council consists of representatives
from clubs that meet the highest standards in the home exchange
industry, in addition to the founders of CHECtravel. They ensure
that all agencies that are offered CHEC membership are honest
and responsive to members' needs.
